Butterfly in a Jar - Easter, Mother's Day Gift Idea

This is one of the coolest things I've ever bought. My kids call it our pet robot butterfly. It's enraptured all the neighbor kids who come over. Adults love to play with it and figure it out. I file this one away as a great Easter Gift or a Mother's day gift for a mom who has everything.

Under the lid is a switch that you can turn on or off. While it's on it will hold still or occasionally bat it's wings slightly, until you move it or tap the lid and it'll flutter around. It's fascinating and so much fun. It makes me happy just seeing it. We pull this out every spring. It's become a fun tradition and reward for surviving winter.

This is Tess' first year to see it as an newly aware toddler. It's fun to see kids discovering things for the first time. Hopefully the weather will warm up, I'll be walking, and soon we'll take her out into nature to see the real thing. For now - this is awesome. Here's a video to see it in action:
