warning - this is kinda gross...

I hit a softball into my eye. With my own bat. At the Trafalga batting cages.

I taught sharing time looking like that. I will say this - the kids were really good at keeping their eyes up front. I explained what happened and started on with my lesson. I had a lot of really cool object lessons and things to teach them about the Holy Ghost and I thought that they were really getting it. Then about ten minutes in a little sunbeam in the front asks in a really loud and concerned voice "What happened to your eye?!" Then about five minutes later "Cant you open your eye at all?!" Meh, maybe some kids heard the lesson.

This is today - 5 days since the "incident". I've kind of given up on putting makeup on my good eye - because, really, who's going to be looking at my good eye. My black eye is turning a crazy green yellow color. Nobody probably wants to hear this, but the part of my eyeball that you can't see is solid red. It's probably the freakiest thing that I've ever seen (including that time when I painted a unibrow on lauren with mascara). I try not to look in the mirror because it is seriously scary. The dr said it's going to be fine... but *shudder* eyeballs aren't supposed to be red. But, everything considered, I feel really lucky that I can see. I kinda took for granted how much that eye meant to me. I'm glad I get to keep it.

OUCH! Awesome bruise though. Definitely a hall of fame-er. Can't wait to see it in person. I wonder what it will look like in 3 weeks?

Wow! That's a shiner if I ever saw one! Glad you can still see. I don't think I'd like you as much if you were blind. ;)
