99 red balloons

red balloons from RoboRuss on Vimeo.

The night that I got my black eye (my excuse for the bad camera work above) Lauren and Jon left a little surprise on our doorstep. It was, needless to say, pretty awesome. At first I thought that it was some kind of sympathy thing because of my eye, but they'd written on the stairs in chalk: "Staci, will you go out with me?". We popped all the balloons to see if there was the poor guy's name inside but we didn't see anything.

For a minute I thought it might be for this new family that has older kids that moved into a basement apt down the street. But I was pretty sure that they didn't have a daughter named Staci. At that point I was thinking it was either one of our friends, or Lauren & Jon. My mom just happened to call right after we found it to see how my eye was doing. I told her about the balloons and she said "oh yeah? weird!" and then I knew that it was Lauren. :) (sorry mom, I've just known you for too long and you're not a good liar. that's a compliment.)

But I didn't communicate any of that thought process to my in-laws upstairs. And Russell's sister and cousin made this poster to tell the unfortunate guy that he'd messed up. haha, it was pretty funny when we walked out to our car a few hours later and saw it on the fence facing the street - realizing that we forgot to tell them who did it.

As a little thank you - this song is dedicated to Jon & Lauren. You guys rock.

(Lauren and I took German together in jr high - not that I need an excuse to play this version. It's the best thing to come out of germany since... lederhosen)

Thanks for liking it! We didn't hear about your eye until 11:30 when I got home and checked my messages. We were a little afraid that is would aggravate things. Anyways - that is all.
