patience...

Well... my official due date was Friday and I'm still pregnant. I think that the only people who can really understand that statement are women who have been there. phew. it's pretty tough. I mean seriously - check out that belly. And admire Russell's soccer jersey. I've had to move on to Russell's shirts because even my biggest ones don't fit anymore.

I've had this crazy itchy thing for the last couple of months where I itch everywhere - all the time. It's not just my belly because of the stretching skin like most people have, it's my hands, my legs, my scalp... etc. They've tested me for a couple things but they're not sure what it could be. We've tried everything that we could think of (and find suggestions for online) to make it stop from dandelion tea, to cold showers, to medication but nothing seems to help and sometimes it's pretty unbearable. Poor Russell has heard me say "Agh! I'm itchy!" so many times that he must think it just comes out automatically, which at this point I think it probably does. :) It got to the point a few weeks ago where we finally just gave up finding a solution and we figure that probably the only way to fix it is to have this baby. SO, the last couple weeks I've been really wishing that I could have the baby sooner rather than later. Turns out that it's going to be later.

I'm really not a patient person and it's been pretty tough to have a "thy will be done" attitude. Especially when I think that I'm right. :) But really, the last couple of weeks have been so good despite the sleepless itchy nights and uncomfortable days. Russell has had work and school off so we've been able to spend lots of time together and it really has been great to have this time because really things will never be the same again.

I've been taking advantage of eating for two and claimed Russell's popsicle. We kind of have this arrangment where he'll finish my normal food, and I'll finish his desserts. I really can't rationalize that it's for the baby from a nutrtional standpoint - so let's just say I claim it as a pregnancy privilege to make up for all the itching.Today Russell and I went up the canyon and we found a nice freezing cold stream to dunk my swollen feet in while Russell went "fishing".I really am so lucky. Things don't always go as I plan but I'm starting to realize that's for the best. We'll see how much longer I have to practice patience until the baby comes. In the mean time I'm so grateful that I have Russell to help me pass the time, because really, as bad as this is, nothing was worse than waiting those two years for him to come home. :) I guess I didn't fill my patience trial quota with that one like I thought I did. I'm just glad that he's here now. I'll keep saying that to myself as I scratch.

This was a really cute post. Lauren came in and told us about your itchy thing-sounds pretty awful. Hopefully you'll forget all about that part when you finally get the baby in your arms. My fingers are crossed that it's SOON, like today.

I'm SOOO excited for that baby to pop out so I can see him! Well pictures anyway. Except I'll see him for real when you come visit me in PA! ;) I totally understand the itching thing. And the uncomfortable humungousness. I hope he decides to show up REALLY soon! Um, I just want to say that I am completely bummed that I never got a chance to see you while I was in UT. It was crazy trying to fit everything in. But that just means that you're at the TOP of the list for next time. Keep us posted and good luck with all that fun labor stuff! Maybe we should actually talk sometime or something.

Cute pictures! You were such a cute pregnant lady and I love that picture of you and Russell at the end there. And, true to being a new mother, you haven't had time to post anything since Jonas was born but he is the sweetest, cutest baby boy ever.
