di helper

I've always wanted to reupholster something. I love the idea of taking some cool old chair and spicing it up with new fabric. Since I'm going to be a poor (but very happy) newlywed very soon this idea is becoming even more appealing. But, I have two things holding me back: #1 I can never find fabric that I like enough and #2 I have no idea where to even start to reupholster even a pincushion, let alone a chair.

I'm still working on the first problem but for the second I found this site that shows the step by step process of how to reupholster a chair. I don't like the fabric that they used. (seriously people! If you're going to go through all that work pick some fabric that makes it worth the time and trouble!) But it gives you an idea of how much really goes into it.

That's when I decided that I'd either do a little chair like this (again, they totally need helping getting some cool fabric) or this...

... or instead just make a slipcover.

I found another slideshow that shows the detailed steps of how to make a slipcover without a pattern. This still looks pretty complicated and it goes a little crazy towards the middle but it looks do-able and kinda fun. I think that I could fake it to the point that it would look okay.
